FINISHING POTS
How do i finish or paint my pots at home?
CLAY PIECES CAN BE TAKEN AWAY FROM OUR THROWING SESSIONS AND FINISHED AT HOME
- Leave in a warm dry place for at least 4 days.
Paint with any colours you have at home for example ready mixed children's paints, emulsion, gouache, acrylic etc.
You can also varnish with any type of lacquer or varnish or watered down PVA glue. The best result is obtained by two coats of yacht varnish.
All of these surface layers will help to make your pot last, but it won't be waterproof so keep it carefully in a dry place.
If you know someone who has a kiln to fire your pot you can tell them it is a general buff earthenware/ stoneware clay for the purposes of firing.
